Health and safety will always come first

Safety, health and wellbeing are fundamental to every single Carillion contract. Our Group-wide campaigns for zero accidents or ill-health (Target Zero) have been proven to build a better business through engaging our people.

Targeting zero accidents and injuries

Falls from height comprise 60% of all our high-risk accidents. As part of our Not ONE Fall campaign, we changed our messaging – from ‘working at height’, to simply ‘focus on falls’. This has helped us to engage more people, including those working on the ground who might be at risk from falling objects – a simple shift which has contributed to a 15% reduction in falls of people or objects.

Best practice standards for safety

Across the UK, we have achieved...

  • 57% reduction in All Accident Frequency Rate
  • a sector award
from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Facilities Management
  • Health and Safety Initiative of the Year
for Carillion Alawi, Construction Week Oman
  • a distinction
in the British Safety Council International Safety Awards

Our approach to delivery, whether in construction or support services, is what distinguishes us from our competition – it’s in our DNA to work safely and sustainably for the benefit of all our stakeholders and the communities which we operate in and around, so as to leave lasting positive legacies.”
