Renewable technologies: the future

The Paris Climate Agreement (COP21) and the Vancouver Declaration on Climate Change underline the need to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and to create better environments. We are uniquely placed to help Canada to realise its vision of a low-carbon future through installing renewable energy for customers.

Wind and hydro power for Canada

Our subsidiary, Rokstad Power, is building transmission lines that will bring wind and hydro energy into the provincial grid. We are also partnering with BC Hydro and Fortis to manage the Energy Conservation Assistance Program (ECAP) across British Columbia.

How we’re creating renewable energy capacity

Across British Columbia, we have delivered...

  • 180 megawatts of wind and 820 megawatts of hydro power for the provincial grid (Rokstad Power)
  • energy assessments, education and upgrades to 2,500 households annually through ECAP, including 50 indigenous communities
  • a future revenue forecast of £120m ($CA196m) as the preferred provider for a major high-voltage transmission line
Our Services team is proud to be involved in a programme that focuses on reducing energy consumption, costs and making homes more efficient and comfortable. It is very rewarding to see the difference this programme makes to our customers, most of whom are on a fixed income and could not afford to make these changes themselves.”
